Mission
Kelowna Laser Vision is committed to providing excellence in vision correction procedures and patient care. We will operate with honesty and integrity in every aspect, providing a lifetime commitment to the highest quality service for every patient.
The Clinic
Kelowna Laser Vision offers LASIK, PRK and monovision as well as something many other laser eye surgery clinics don't provide, refractive lens exchange. "We will always be at the leading edge of refractive eye care which means we can offer the treatments that are best for our patients," said Dr. Joel Casey, Optometrist and one of the Clinic’s Directors. Kelowna Laser Vision uses the VISX S-4 IR laser, widely recognized as the most advanced level of laser technology available worldwide. The WaveScan® based digital technology identifies and measures imperfections 25 times more precisely than standard methods. More doctors use the VISX laser than any other platform and VISX has more lasers in the U.S. than all other laser systems combined.
Both Dr. Joel Casey, optometrist, and one of the clinic’s eye surgeons, Dr. Jeffrey Chambers, had PRK procedures performed by Dr. Ron Baldassare at Kelowna Laser Vision over a year ago. The outcomes were fantastic, both can see better than 20/20. “It is truly incredible how much this procedure can change your life for the better, even just by reducing the hassle of glasses and contacts,” said Dr. Chambers.
Why Choose Kelowna Laser Vision? They are Your Eyes, they deserve the best.
Kelowna Laser Vision is a Medical Center of Excellence offering each patient only the very highest level of treatment available from both our medical team and our laser technology.
When you come in for your complimentary consultation, you will be seen by a doctor of Optometry. The examination will include a complete eye examination, corneal topography and analysis with the Orbscan II as well as VISX Wavefront aberrometry to measure the optical imperfections of your eyes. After the procedure, you will be examined again by our doctor of optometry and there will be follow-up appointments with your own optometrist.
The current gold standard of treatment in the refractive industry is Wavefront-Guided surgery. This exciting improvement in technology allows physicians to customize the treatment according to the unique characteristics of each patient’s eye, unlike traditional methods which base the treatment on prescription information similar to that used for glasses and contacts. We at Kelowna Laser Vision believe that patients deserve the best treatment that technology has to offer and have adopted wavefront-guided surgery as our standard. We use the Advanced CustomVue procedure which is driven by VISX WaveScan™ technology to provide unprecedented levels of accuracy and precision during your treatment. Only the VISX Advanced CustomVue system measures and utilizes 240 data points on the cornea (Fourier analysis) to capture and treat all the imperfections of your optical system. Other wave-front guided laser platforms only collect approximately 36 data points (Zernicke analysis). This new level of precision provided by Fourier analysis benefits you by giving unprecedented resolution. Better treatment equates to better outcomes.
VISX Iris Registration (IR) was approved in 2005 and is the first fully automated method of aligning and registering wavefront corrections during the procedure. Only the Advanced CustomVue procedure with VISX Technology IR compensates for the natural rotational movement that occurs when you lay down. It is also the only system that compensates for the pupil center movement that occurs when your pupil constricts under operating lights. Reduction of these two factors provides for more precise treatment placement and centering. Better alignment and centering allows for better results.
The VISX Star S4 IR laser is the ONLY laser that can re-register your iris if you move during surgery after the flap has been made. This is a critical advantage of the VISX technology and a major safety benefit to you. Iris Registration provides greater alignment accuracy and it enables the physician to instantly re-register in the event of intra-operative movement, again benefiting you by allowing for increased precision and safety during your treatment.
In summary, Kelowna Laser Vision is committed to giving every patient the best education, treatment and follow up care.
